Depth of Decarburization Layer in Steel

Problem solved:
Evaluation of decarburization layer depth is performed.

Solution:
Decarburization layer is selected in two steps. First, the ferrite is selected, and then the lower boundary of the layer is drawn by selecting the "lowest" inclusions of the ferrite. At the second stage the background is selected and removed in order to determine the upper boundary of the decarburization layer. When the layer boundaries are determined, layer depth is calculated using the secants method.

Determined parameters:
A report is generated, containing measurement results for every field and cumulative results for all fields. The following parameters are determined for every view field by an arbitrary number of view fields (images)

Number of view fields
Minimal layer depth
Maximal layer depth
Average layer depth

This solution is ordered separately. Installed SIMAGIS® platform is required for the solution to function.
