Graphite Inclusions Characterization in Cast Iron

Problem solved:
The solution determines the content of graphite inclusions, classifies them and determines inclusion sizes for the classes of inclusions.

Solution:
Graphite inclusions are selected according to brightness characteristics. The selected inclusions are classified according to their morphology.

The initial image is contrasted to remove intensity drops. The Threshold segmentation is applied to select dark objects, which represent the inclusions of graphite. Small artifacts with area less than specified  (area parameter is user-controlled) are filtered out, and the remaining inclusions are classified according to their shape.

Determined parameters:
The solution produces the series of parameters, including the analyzed area, content of graphite as a whole, content of specific graphite types, and the error of determining the content for every inclusion type.

This solution is ordered separately. Installed SIMAGIS® platform is required for the solution to function.
