SIMAGIS® Insect Analyser™ is designed to automate measuring lengths of the insects with curvilinear shapes on the images. The lengths can then be used, for example, to estimate biomass using published regression models, such as those of Sample et al. in 1993 ("Estimation of Insect Biomass by Length and Width" in the American Midland Naturalist 129:234-240).

The application automatically performs the following actions: numbering the insects; drawing curved lines through the insects from front to rear tips; measuring lengths of these curved lines;
exporting results into the table with visualization of images for all insects.
