Silicide Inclusions Characterization in Brass

Solution:
Silicide inclusions are selected according to brightness characteristics. On binary images silicates become bright, while the brass body is dark. To obtain the binary image, the Threshold segmentation  function is applied. Resulting binary image is cleared of small noises with Small particles removal function. Filling small pores operation is implemented to fill the pores on the images of silicide inclusions.

Determined parameters:
The solution produces the series of parameters, including the analyzed area, content of silicides expressed in %, error of determining the the content of silicides. Determined parameters of silicide particles include minimal, maximal and average size.
